Northlight Publishing House was founded in London in 2025 to bring beautiful books into the world with care. We publish uplifting fiction, children’s picture books, and elegant lifestyle nonfiction, supporting emerging authors with thoughtful editorial guidance and creating books that feel warm, polished, memorable, and worth keeping.
Northlight Publishing House was launched by Natasha Van Der Pol, whose editorial vision is shaped by a lifelong interest in how stories help us understand who we are and where we belong.
Before founding Northlight, Natasha worked for a national research council, managing multi-country research across Eastern and Southern Africa. Her work has contributed to policy-relevant research on human rights and social change, earning her recognition on the Mail & Guardian’s 200 Young South African Leaders list in 2017 for her human rights research.
Natasha's passion project is her children's picture book series, The Dr. Kitty Books. The series was inspired by her doctoral work at the University of Bristol. Her research explored cultural hybridity and the ways families make meaning around identity and belonging. The series is written for children aged 4–8, and turns complex ideas about identity into warm, accessible stories for young readers to improve communication between parents and young children.
As founder of Northlight Publishing House and Editor-in-Chief of The Northlight Good Reads Magazine, Natasha brings scholarly depth, editorial precision, and a belief in beautiful books made with purpose.
